Lincoln Park Volleyball - An Introduction

While there is some controversy as to the exact year of our birth as an organization, there can be no doubt
that people have been gathering outdoors in Lincoln Park to play pick-up volleyball games for over 35 years.
Our season begins the first Tuesday in April and continues through September, every Tuesday and Thursday from
5:30 until it gets dark. We have 5 permanent courts located just south of the lagoon, west of Cannon Drive
and north of the bridge that crosses over to North Avenue Beach. Click here for a map. We accept a dollar
donation to help us offset the cost of our permit for the courts. So even if you play on the beach, you can
begin your warm-ups with us and continue to play long after your season is over. Look for us by the blue and
yellow sign.

Parking

Meter and free parking is located west of the park on Clark Street and Stockton Drive. There is hourly parking
available along Cannon Drive which puts you right next to the courts but this can be pricey. However, if you're
going to be with us all season, you can sign up for a Lincoln Park Zoo membership at the Zoologist level which

Annual Volleyball Picnic

The other highlight of our season is our annual picnic that always happens the Saturday following Labor Day.
The exact location may vary from year to year. This year we're at Bunker Hill Forest Preserve, Grove # 1.
Click here for a map. The picnic starts at 11:00AM and ends at dusk. A fee of $15 for adults and less for kids
includes all you can eat and drink and all the volleyball you may want to play.
